There is so much to learn about Sri Lanka, which is the motherland of Sinhala speaking people. Sri Lanka is a country with a long-standing written history that runs beyond 2500 years and one of the few countries with a very vast and rich cultural diversity. The Sinhalese culture is well shaped with this longstanding history and its value system is based on Theravada Buddhism, which contributes to the Sri Lankan identity. The objective of the cultural forum is allowed Australian Sri Lankan younger generation to have an idea of who they are and where they come from and keep them connected with Sri Lanka.
In this forum, we discusshistory, literature, national heroes, main cities, famous places, and tourist destinations, ancient monuments and historical cities, natural beauty and national parks, demography, national festivals, Sinhala folk tales, folk songs, music and dancing, art, and current facts about Sri Lanka.
This forum is conducted by Yasodhara Sinhala School teachers. After the forum students are given an opportunity to present performance such as speech, drama, presentation, music item, dancing item, storytelling etc. This helps them to improve their talents, presentation skills, confidence and moral values while connecting them with our culture.
